Blogging - the original social network
In amongst the noise created by Facebook and Twitter, it's easy to forget the original social network - Blogging.
The two key blogging tools in the UK are Blogger (owned by Google) and WordPress - and they have two major benefits. First they are part of an existing network of bloggers - you immediately become part of an existing community that offers high volumes of traffic. Second they are an ideal way of delivering the up-to-date content that search engines love.
Here are three recent projects that highlight the benefits of blogging:
www.emailogic.com/blog - this WordPress based blog is integrated into the companies main website - and has two key purposes; offering the MD a way to shout about the latest developments in Emailogics products - and improving their position in the search rankings.
www.haineswattssurvey.co.uk - again built using WordPress, this blog has been used to promote a Survey created by Haines Watts - and also to gain feedback from visitors. The site was promoted using eMail marketing and the feedback provided by the blog was used to further promote interaction with customers.
http://kern-ltd.blogspot.com - this is built on Blogger and is purely aimed at search optimisation - it has feeds direct from the news system on the company's main website which are supplemented by further posts from the marketing team. It's goal is to drive traffic back to the main www.kern.co.uk website.
